Whoa. Filling out this section is about as painful as filling out an online dating profile. Anyone who has ever filled out an online dating profile will totally get my pain.
Here’s the thing: I can’t decide if this is a humor blog or a singles blog. So let’s just say I could easily cry about my single life, but I choose to laugh instead. And I hope you do, too. Sometimes I just write weird stuff. Like that last sentence. I write about penises a pretty decent amount. Oh, and I live in Los Angeles, so that’s funny.
For the most part, 87% of what I say you should not take seriously. It’s on you to figure out which 87%.
You know, on second thought you should just read my shit to get to know me. And follow me on Twitter @singlegirlie and like me on Facebook, too.
Fun fact: As I write this I am wearing a gigantic pink onesie. Alright, this has been awkward enough. I gotta go.
What’s that? You want to pay me to write for you? You want to hand me a book deal on a platter? CONTACT ME NOW at singlegirlie [at] ymail [dot] com. Or you can fill out my handy dandy contact form. Also accepting jewels.
NO DAMN SOLICITORS.

I got married at 30, I was in no rush and had no firm design on having to get married. I happened to meet a fantastic man – whom even today, I call my best friend. Prior to the great guy, I dated an awful lot. I remember the humor and the terror were finely mixed in the wicked cocktail called dating. I can promise you, most of the dating terror will turn to humor as time passes. Even as I write this, I’m fondly recalling the man with the yellow banana shorts, his red convertible and bad seafood – long story – horrific at the time, hysterical now. 🙂
Fuck. OK. I’m now following your site again. Apologies. Ugh.
Where’s the pic of the giant pink onesie?
I bet you rocked the house in that!
This is sort of a solicitation, but is definitely relevant to your blog.
My name is Nathan Ives, I’m an indie filmmaker and recently wrote and directed ‘It’s Not You, It’s Me,’ – A Serious Relationship Comedy. It’s an edgy, fun look at relationships from inside our heads. It stars Vivica Fox (Independence Day), Joelle Carter (Justified), and Ross McCall (Band of Brothers). Here is a link to the trailer: http://vimeo.com/83004036
Instead of signing with a distributor, I’m doing a grassroots tour, an NPR interview and Film Independent article are below.
I wondered if I could either send you a link to watch the film, or send you a DVD, if you enjoy it, maybe you’d write a blog post about it.
Thanks so much for your time and consideration, I hope your day is going well!

Hell Yeah. love your blog!

Hey looking. For a good girl to know hit me up
I’m single as well and I found out your blog 🙂 It’s amazing 🙂 I have been through a hard break up six months ago and it’s getting hard to get over it. Do you think I should write my own blog? How did it help you out?
If you have experienced a relationship break-up then you are probably familiar with the distress, disorientation and upheaval that often occurs when we are faced with the end of a relationship.
It is estimated that 1 in 3 of us experience the pain of a relationship break-up each year. Yet amazingly, little is known about how people deal with this highly stressful event.
The Break-up Study, would like to gather information about your experiences, reactions, and attempts to cope with the breakdown of a romantic relationship. The results will enable Clinical Psychologists to better understand and assist people who struggle with break-ups in the future.
If you have experienced a relationship breakdown within the last year and would like to help, please take the time to fill out a brief online survey by clicking on the link below. This study is being run by the Australian National University and is anonymous and confidential.
Thank you for your kind support

my dear ……..excuse me calling you that but us men also get hurt emotionally i wish you good luck for the future but remember emotional hurt is also felt but us guys and lust like ladies the older we are the more the hurt!!!!
Looking forward to reading your adventures in dating 🙂
By the way. I agree. “To be honest, I don’t dislike being single. I can come and go as I please, don’t have to answer to anyone and exercise full control of the remote. I have terrific friends and I travel, have a great time, and take advantage of all this crazy city has to offer. In some ways I’m afraid of losing that freedom if and when I meet someone. But I’m not getting any younger and I’m going to need someone to change me when my ass is back in diapers.”
Stumbled upon your blog by chance and I feel fortunate for the coincidence. You write like an angle.Highly intelligent angle.though.I started writing a blog along the same theme. But it’s new and not as successful as your’s.Would love to have your comments and remarks.Plz take a few minutes of your valuable time and read them.
Great blog!! You should check out this show at the Roxy at the end of the month. Right up your alley!!
Hi there! I just wanted you to know that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award! I think your blog is awesome! You can check out what it’s about at: http://lostdododesigns.wordpress.com/2012/03/29/the-versatile-blogger-award/.
I really enjoy you blog! As a proud single girl thanks for your awesome insights and the laughs.
Hi there. I’ve been reading your site since discovering it a few months back, and finally worked up the nerve to say hi and send a request. Your writing is very alive & insightful, and I would love to see you take on the following topic…
My girlfriend & her friends and I recently had a big debate on the difference between ‘making love’ and fucking.…From a physical standpoint, what is your definition of ‘making love’? Slow with eye contact seems to be the general female perspective, but my argument was that even if you are having a quickie, or being rough even, as long as there’s trust and respect, then you can still be ‘making love’.
Just wanted to get a single girl bloggers perspective with the usual wit and humor.
Thanks so much and keep writing!
Hi yourself. I will take your suggestion into consideration. It might take me a minute to write something, but I will make an attempt.
Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m blushing. I’m glad you said hi. This is a personal invitation from me to comment any time you get the urge. 🙂
Have been reading your Greatest Hits. One word- HILARIOUS!
Glad I’ve found your blog, I am doing the similar thing and have just started few weeks back so my blog is a bit amateur-ish. : ) Would be great if you can check it out and feedback!
You wrote, “don’t have to answer to anyone.”
You don’t have to answer to anyone, anyway. See this:
Hey, I LOVE this blog. I can relate to almost everything that you post! This blog has become one of those I check everyday! Check out my blog as well, I’m an inspiring Interior designer and I post about deisgn, art, entertainment and anything that interest me!
Keep up the great work,
Enjoy reading your blog. I think you are cool single lady..i can relate 🙂
thank for ur web. I found it just now. I will follow thus.
You. Are. Hot.
I enjoy reading your posts . I would love you invite me as a guest bloguer 🙂 .
Love love LOVE this. When it comes to dating, I’d almost rather sit at home and watch an entire season of 2 and a Half Men, followed by the extended version of Gigli.
I hope you don’t mind if I use your blog as my therapy also (only because I don’t have coverage.:))
Really enjoyed reading your blog so far. Have just started my own so have linked you so people can see what a good blog is like once they have finished looking at mine 🙂
Love your blog. Keep it going.
I was in a relationship for ten years. Then he left me via a text message on my birthday saying, “I am moving out. Already found a new place to live! I hope we can be friends.”
Yes, that exclamation mark was really in the text, and no, he didn’t actually hope we could be friends. So I’m a single girl dating in Orange County. I’ve met a lot of Asian Republicans while speed dating.
I’m pretty sure I love you.
i love u too
You’d have been ravishing in an A-Ha video.
I’m adding you to my DelVecchio-approved links.
About damn time, right?
This A-HA comment is why I listen to the entire Winger album every night and cry – because Denny makes it hurt so good. Genius.
I really enjoyed your writing. And I hope you find that man 🙂
I’m a professional wingman. Don’t judge. It’s all very Hitch. Anyway, go out alot. Have fun. Look for interesting people. Don’t look at every one as the ONE. HE is out there. The one you want to snuggle with. Just be interesting so the guy that’s looking for someone interesting to talk to looks at you and says to himself, “Wow! She looks interesting.”
Just watched yesterday’s clip in which Hoda and Kathie Lee interview two “unplugged” dating experts. One of their recommendations–have a great wingman! : )
I completely agree re. the wingman (or wing girl as I like to call them). I’ve found it’s good to suss out a venue before you go so you can take the right kind and number of wing girls with you. Meeting men involves so much strategy these days! Not sure on the situation in the US, but in Oz we have a major man drought…makes getting your strategy right even more important…
Scot, if only it was as straight forward as that!! I rarely back-off from a challenge or the opportunity to experience something new but after trying to be ‘interesting’ for a few yrs and experiencing very poor quality stock in men regardless; I’ve thrown the towel in. I’m done. THEY need to start trying harder and appear more ‘interesting’ to ME!! My question is: where are all the ‘interesting’ men??!! The ones who are capable of having a conversation that doesn’t start with ‘so what are you wearing’?!! PLEASE, hearing this line is soul destroying!! ARE men actually interested in women beyond tits and ass??!! Yes, I’m disillusioned. Yes, I’m very cynical. And yes, I’ve become quite suspicious. I can thank my interactions with the opposite sex for that!
Found your blog via twitter. Wow, tell me about it. I’ve been dating for the past 5 years after being with ex wife for 10. I can relate. Dating now is not the same as it was. More power to you and good luck.
wow – so glad I found your blog. While I wasn’t married for ten years, I was with my ex-husband for 10 (married for just under 3) and also find dating now SO much different than uh, when I was 20! Will be reading your posts!
